[THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION OF THE MARKETPLACE] Currently we have two systems acting as galleries in Inkarnate; the explore page (a curated (staff selected) sample of public maps that meet an unclear standard), and the personal feed (all published maps of users specifically followed by a user). There are clear flaws with the lack of options here, visibility is currently determined by this curated system which as present lacks transparency as well as a dependency on prior visibility and the good fortune to be noticed by staff. __The Present Flaws__ As the system is isolated to the feeds of the staff of Inkarnate, users not followed by staff or whose maps are not posted to the forums they browse remain unseen. This means it’s hard for people who use the personal feed to find artists and creators they would wish to follow. This system has also created a limited visibility to artists whose skills and creations aren’t to the personal tastes and expectations of the staff. The lack of transparency in what criteria makes one's map eligible or not makes this doubly so, and can often lead to further stress and anxiety. This can make in some cases the publishing feature a moot point to many who don’t fit the narrower criteria for posting. Having a curated featured feed is great in conjunction with a public system which is currently only satiated by the discord community and reddit forums. __Public Gallery__ A public gallery of approved posters would mean most any map can be opted into public viewing to be seen, located and sought out in one convenient place. Easy to understand guidelines would be needed to know what is permitted to post into the public gallery and failure or abuse of this system would be reasonable grounds for revoked access to post in the public gallery, easing the moderation required for such a gallery to exist. To opt in could be as simple as an additional tick box alongside “make the map cloneable” on the publishing page for a map. This Public Gallery could be it’s own page on the UI between the Explore page and the My Feed page or all rolled into the explore page with a drop down on the Explore page along with the My Feed page . (The explore page could also then be a public feature showing the best foot forward for Inkarnate to draw in more people whilst the public page would remain a Pro feature) (There are also clear problem with the Explore pages current search features that would need to be addressed if a Public Gallery was created) [Further details of possible features to a public gallery and flaws of the current system included in a PDF https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yv0PAZlWGJ8Xx5Fk_E6Cw5QQlmwoAImW/view?usp=drive_link ] * ~~A hypothetical Marketplace page could work alongside these pages.~~
