Since these are fantasy maps, it would be nice to have special characters such as various Norse/scandavian fonts like two dots over an O etc..

I'm not sure if we support a way to type them, but I know you can copy-paste any unicode character in our text. Not all fonts support all of them though.

Philipp: There is Unicode support but most fonts fall bsck to default glyphs. Then again I have mostly tried very exotic scripts.

Haemocyte: There should be support for most. I saw and used characters like this: äö, á, and I saw Chinese and Kyrillic text on maps already.
You can search for fonts that support your signs. We can use easily fonts from the Google font collection: https://fonts.google.com
If you find any, please me an individual request for each font.
