Start on Select Tool
Currently whenever you open a map the mask tool is selected, which can modify the map. this means that if you click accidentally while loading a map it will alter it. Changing it to the Select tool removes this issue.

mabye the pan feature instead so you dont also have to worry about moving something acciedntally. though yours is a god idea too
