grey white checker background makes textures worse

i have started a post in discord about this, but the png checkers pattern is not the way to go. these are arguably not different from the gray background, maybe even worse in some cases.

the correct way of fixing this would be using a "darkness" slider on top of the screen so users can change the background darkness, so they can see these.
