Distance/Traveling Measurement Tool

Perhaps a tool where you can set the distance scale of the map based on a distance marker, and then use a measurement tool that takes this distance marker into account allowing you to trace and figure out distance on the map. Perhaps even have a straight line version and a drawing version so you can get distances from two locations and following a path/trail/journey so you can gauge the distance?
