Import images to put on background layer so landmasses, water, rivers, etc can be traced on a higher layer

Cant find it, of course can use stamp, but that's a hack.

This would be great for all map types, but cities more for me personally as I have a few extremely large cities that are hard to create currently.

Stencil Layer

An image layer that can be used as a stencil. For example to trace your handdrawn maps, or to integrate previously drawn maps or artwork.

Guide Layer

I would like to be able to have a "guide" or "construction" layer on top of the map I'm drawing. The guide layer would be excluded from the exported map or preview.
For instance, in the "How to create realistic water" tutorial Mati is using a stamp as a guide.

You can upload an image as a custom Stamp, place it in the scene, then change the opacity and lock it.
Once you are done, you can remove it and delete the custom stamp.

Philipp: that is not exactly the same thing, although it is how I’ve been doing for the meantime

newtonmarins@gmail.com: could you explain what you would to be different / new with the feature?

Philipp: sure thing! First of all, a dedicated layer for the reference would make it easier not only do manage it (since using it as a stamp would make Inkarnate interpret it as a common object), but also it would make it simpler to onion skin over hand drawn maps adding stamps etc without overcomplicating things.
A dedicated reference layer would also make it easier to change its opacity, which can be crucial to get some details done but can be a shore depending on how many objects you are working while using the reference.
It would actually be even better if Inkarnate worked like Wonderdraft, being able to import maps and try to convert them into landmass, even if that would only be possible with two color contrast, e.g. white (or light color) for landmass and black (or dark color) for water. I know this one is a bit of a stretch, though.
