I think a designated river tool for better looking rivers would be nice. I think that it could have a variation feature that would make rivers look more natural.

Right now I can only get reasonable looking rivers by drawing a blue line and setting it to "hue," then painting the foreground with a green texture under and around the river so that it doesn't look so weirdly see-through, then drawing a line on top and setting it to the "Ship Wave Wall" pattern for a white water effect. Being able to do this more easily would be awesome!

I'd love for it to have editable nodes like the line tool!
Also having an option for it to throw in random extra squiggles (like how the mask tool has a roughness control) would be cool.
Also having white current lines that can be turned off and on (like the ripples in the mask effects, except down the center) would be super!
And it would be great for it to have separate outward and inward shadows (again, like the mask tool has) that you can choose the color of would be terrific for showing the shallow edges of the river or making the banks bright green.

Please hear us! River tool like the one in Wonderdraft would make our work a lot faster and easier.

So, here is what I would love to see. A tool that could programmatically generate rivers on a map. Now, I realize this is a big ask, but there is a tool that I have been using to generate rivers that I can then use as a stamp to place rivers manually: https://www.redblobgames.com/maps/mapgen4/
It works by creating rivers based on the sliders, elevation, and land mass. Now I realize, this tool uses land elevation, but it "might" be possible to have a layer for elevation that could simulate the landscape and more accurately display what the rivers would look like, then allow the user to draw the rivers on manually and TA DA, better rivers. It is more of a manual solution, but it would provide much better pathing for the rivers.

Evenn if its not fanncy looking anything would still be better than erasing lands !

it is really the only thing missing now. I haaaaaaaaate making rivers in world maps here. In Hd maps its tolerable but for world maps its just ugly.

Proper Water Drawing Tools Needed

Even with the new path tool (which is great, by the way), drawing water features is still nothing like intuitive. We really need a quick and easy way to draw realistic water features, without resorting to 'erasing' the land. Look at how other tools and services handle it, and you'll quickly see how easy this is to do in many of those tools, and how difficult and unintuitive in Inkarnate. It's the one missing thing that keeps me returning to other tools time and again. We should just be able to choose a river or a lake tool, along with a number of options (auto delta, auto headwater) and then draw. Yes, it is possible to painstakingly work through things like that manually, but it shouldn't be anywhere near as difficult as it is. I'm unsure why good water features are missing, as it seems a critical oversight.

Yes! River are a pain right now, and they are in almost every big scale map

Definitely! A similar tool for making good looking canyons would be nice too...
