Mask Effect Options for Battlemaps Styles
T
The Musical Rogue
With the release of 2.0, mask effect options were removed for battlemaps styles.
Many members of the community have voiced they would like to have them returned across social media platforms
This could be accomplished by reintroducing the mask layer on launch, or by being able to add a layer with mask effect properties.

Not having "Insert Land Mask" feels like a shocking omission when 2.0 has otherwise brought so many upgrades. More options for creativity are always a win, and I'm definitely feeling its omission for battlemaps with water features & the likes.

There are some really pain points with 2.0, I really dont like much of the new features esp losing the auto foreground/background and shovel tool that made quick dungeons easy to build.

100%, this new way takes waaaay longer. I really don't like 2.0. If I was an artist I wouldnt have gravitated to inkarnate to begin with

I completely agree. The addition of layers is great but now there's no good way to add a stroke to the edge of a layer or the ripple effect that was possible when the mask tool was still available. Having both options on all maps would be great!

Absolutely bring this back! It is a powerful way to create caverns and tunnels quickly and I don't see a way to do the same with the new mask layers.

I miss the mask tool so much. I'd honestly just be happy to be able to go back to the previous Inkarnate version when creating a new map. Right now I have to duplicate an old map or create a world map and then manually turn it into a battlemap to get access to the map tool, which seems clunky. My friend who just started using Inkarnate can't even duplicate old maps to get it, but he wants to be able to create maps the way I showed him.

Completely agree and would love them back.

Yes please! I've been using my old maps in order to still be able to do it instead of using the new version. I really rely on it to create depth easily

Yes, there were many cool things to do with mask effects, even on battlemap styles. It would be really nice to have them back

The ability to hasve multiple land mask layers would be obscenely powerful. How about an “insert land mask” layer option?
