Using a lot of Path in a map can be taxing to the system.
A placed Path shouldn't take more performance than a placed stamp.
(Please add some map links that became laggy because of the Path Tool)

With PT2, I'm doing all the pre-filter editing on 2K instead of 4K
I know that's not very precise - i.e., it's not like I tried building exactly the same map twice - once with PT2 terrain & walls and once with individual stamps

All are my own, but I think all are cloned maps. Not sure if that increases the risk? If so, that's still a problem. Removing some of the paths solves the problems, so there seems to be a connection to those. They all started early with lag.
These two used to show a lot of lag (They didn't when I just checked after a while). But since you've mentioned the lag issue with groups, that might be more of the problem here. I'll put the links here anyway.
