Export layers with transparency
in progress

It is currently impossible to create a clean roof-layer for programs such as Foundry. It would be extremely beneficial to be able to export a layer with a transparent background, to the point that I'm looking for other programs
specifically
because of the lack of this feature.Log In

Hopefully that's part of what we're getting with Inkarnate 2.0...

So this is now almost a year in progress...
Will this ever be implemented or is this still a policy thing?

Hi,
Is there a rough timeline on the topic of “Export and Transparency (Alpha Channel)?

I am currently working around this, but I definitely miss this feature from DungeonDraft, which I otherwise do not miss at all. I like to make my floors on the bottom layer and my walls on the top layer. It really gives a sense of depth when the token moves next to, and partially underneath, the walls.
The top layer can also include things like archways and spiderweb so the character token can pass under.
So I am glad to see that this is in progress.

I want this now since I use Roll20 and they're now doing their beta for the foreground layer, allowing users to have things fade when a token is underneath it, and it will allow me to do a similar thing to what you want to do with like a roof disappearing when inside a building, like some video games do.

I've been using Inkarnate for a long time. Since I've started using Foundry with the Levels plugin, I've played around with a lot of multi floored maps. It's highly time intensive to remove the background manually, even with a high contrast background, due to shadows complicating the masking process. Anything to support transparent export would enable users to spend all that time on the quality of their maps instead of manual masking.

I would also find something like this very useful. I want to make a video game using incarnate map and would like to apply an outline shader around buildings when you hover over them.
As such a transparent export would be good or if you are worried about people stealing stamp assets the ability to export all stamps filled in with black on a transparent background. I simply want the outline of the objects so I don't care what they are filled with.

We are working on several features that all work hand in hand together, as a side effect exporting with transparency will be made possible.

Bumping this, as i would greatly appreciate a feature like this in my future maps. Using it in foundry would be seamless. Is there any updates on this?
