Agreed. Looks like the creators have no interest in doing such a thing as it has been years without any response. I had to cancel my subscription due to lack of optimization online. Will subscribe again if they ever bring a desktop/stand-alone version.

I was looking into some stuff and apparently they can use Electron to create a wrap of the online version of the client, just need to allow it to access ram within systems and storage for more assets to be held onto. I've been wanting something like this for like 5 ish years now.

I think the benefits would be massive to have this as a stand alone client. But I understand that it will open it up to pirating. I hope they are able to find a way.

So after tinkering with your map maker i can not help but feel that the map maker would function so much better as a stand alone application that you could make Pro use only and website version be Free version. As a stand alone application you could add more functionality and quality of life while also making it work with Tablet stylas giving map makers more fine control granting finer detail.
