I've already made a pretty comprehensive statement on another person's post but I will be adding my own here. I do not want the sale of Gen-Ai assets. Guys, even if you aren't the ones making it, its still not good to prop it up. Its like being a pawn shop and allowing people to knowingly and openly sell you stolen items. 'Well we didn't steal this, we're just allowing the thieves to make a profit here.' That's what you're saying here. That's what you're doing. It's not too late to take it back. Be one of the few companies out there with a back bone and stand against the degradation of human creativity. I understand that some AI stuff is gonna fall through the cracks. It's hard to moderate, especially as you become more popular, but for god's sakes try. You don't have to make it easy for them. I love your program and have been using it forever. I love the program. But I don't want to see it corrupted by more ai-garbage like everyone else. Be better, y'all. Be better.

No AI at all!

Hey Inkarante team! I recently got a big scare and had to go on a rabbit hole hunt of my own to find out that there was a question of whether you guys are going to use GEN AI or not. As a small time author who's used your program for years, please don't. You guys have the most accessible map maker I've seen in a while and I have used your maps in public works and will continue to in my future books. As a love of your team, your art, and what you do I ask you to stay true to yourselves. There are hardly any 'AI free' things anymore. Stay one of them!

I agree with this. I don't want AI in the program. Feels like you're just trying to appeal to the masses of people that are impatient with how quickly the company kicks our assets. Its the wrong move. You'll loose a lot of your best users u suspect if you continue towards adding AI to the program.

AI-generative stance of the higher-ups
M

Following a recent conversation on Discord with "Ingmar" (in which he very clearly stated that he does not give a thing about art theft and plans to incorporate AI-generated assets and maps more and more into the future of Inkarnate) and the recent surge of AI-generated ads for the app, I have cancelled my year-long pro subscription and unpublished and deleted all of my maps. I will not support a software - monetarily or otherwise - that supports the theft of art and destruction of our planet for our own gain, and I hope that many others will follow. As a software for creatives, this is an unacceptable stance in the face of climate destruction and ethical questions arising everywhere, concerning the use of LLM and generative AI in general.

Hi. I let my subscription run out on accident, and was going to renew it later next month, in preparation for my next campaign. Because of your stance on AI art, and including it in your product, as seen on both the Inkarnate subreddit and Discord server, I can no longer support your business monetarily, and thus will be sticking with the free tier while looking for a different map making solution.

Remove all GenAI Images and commit to never including them.

I have heard that that Inkarnate is planning to or has already begun to allow assets created by Generative AI tools in the Marketplace. As someone committed to opposing the use of these tools, I am extremely disappointed that Inkarnate would make this decision. I have been a happy subscriber so far, but this is an absolute red line. If this decision is not reversed publicly within the next month, I will cancel my subscription and move to another mapmaking service that bans these images.

I agree that they need to take a stance here. They are a site founded by the creativity of people and to support that creativity. Allowing the sale of Gen-AI (despite their claims)
is
support for GenAI. You say 'We don't believe in using this' and then turn around and prop up those who do. But they have a chance here. I know its hard to take stuff back, and that its easier to listen to all the loser AI-bros going 'Nah these guys are overreacting do what you want AI is inevitable.' But guys we are begging you. Listen to the people who actually care about art and what is made. Take a stance. Don't be another loser company who turns to AI for profit and greed and the wringing of every last penny from the artists of the world. Please.
