A lot of recent issues

I have issues with both the maps I have, some open up, some don't, some barely do at 1k resolution, but the most annoying thing is that I feel that I get crashes when I use the land tool, be it as a brush or with the fill tool. The map just crashes and I get that empty checkered image, and the recovery tool doesn't do anything to help me.
